Happening Events!

I am behind on updated our family happenings...so here goes my lame attempt at keeping you posted.
Our Maddy turned 14!!!!  We didn't do a big party this year but we had a great time.  Madeline was blessed to get a cell phone from her uncle that she LOVES!  I was hesitant to open up this bag of worms for our family but I have discovered that Madeline is more willing to be social through her phone.  Any social avenues for Maddy is a good thing!
Daddy Daughter Dance
Mother Son Dance
Both David and I had the opportunity to take Abigail and Jonah to dances.  What a BLAST!  I know Abigail and daddy boogied all night long.  Jonah was the life of the party.  He barely rested.  He even tried to pull wall flowers off the wall.  If he noticed someone was shy or struggling...he would make his way to them and we would be dancing with a new group of kids, he was infectious!  What FUN times!

Kalahari Fun!

As part our Christmas present to the lovies we went to Kalahari over winter break.  We had so much fun!  If you haven't been it is a MUST!  The youngest two children, Abby-Jonah, and the biggest child, David, all body surfed.  Here is a small clip.  As you can tell Madeline, Savannah and I are not this crazy. We were enjoying spectator seats.
It was fun to look outside and see all the frost on the windows while we were toasty warm in swimsuits.  We ended up with one facial abrasion...when Abigail stepped on David's face, what was his face doing on the ground you might ask...he was diving in the wave pool- yep breaking the rules! We did get a bunch of knee and back scrapes ...but if you ask any of the kids if it was worth it.  You will get definite YES!

Jonah and Abby at the Brooks Talent Show

This year, 2011, our two elementary students participated in the annual school talent show. Jonah made his final appearance doing his version of the Evolution of Dance. Abby also sang a song with her friend Shaye. Both were fantastic and we are very happy with their performances. Try not to laugh too hard at our controlling daughter Abigail.  She might need to go solo next year...she has learned to share the microphone yet.  It was super funny though! The quality of video stinks...we picked the seats by the lights and it washed everyone out . I am trying to get better material, but we will see. You get the idea from what we have. Enjoy!

Keeping it REAL

I am taking this blog idea from a Friend of mine, who rocks!  Realizing I am guilty of only posting the flowery-good things that happen in the Walker household, I decided to get REAL!  I have the days when I feel less than great at my calling as a  wife and mother.  So in an effort to keep us REAL I am going to post some of the REAL things that happen in our household.  So for your entertainment here it goes...

1.  If it gets past 8:30 p.m. I start to laugh uncontrollably, even if it isn't appropriate, then I start to cry...this continues until David insists that I go to sleep.
2.  Abby and Jonah literally wake up fighting on some days...they are like magnets that find each other in the morning and then they go at it, until I want to scream.
3.  Maddy is not someone you want to talk to in the morning, avoid her at all costs.
4.  Savannah is a PIG...there is no sugar coating this one.  She leaves her belongings everywhere.  Once she had her shoe and sock at the entrance of the door...the other shoe and sock in the bathroom and her pants in the hallway.
5.  David HATES closet doors and drawers open...he will slam them if they are open!
6.  Savannah's kitten Cali is challenged and she lifts her butt when she pees... so that I have to clean her pee of the tray her litter box sits on...daily!
7. I leave all my toiletries on the bathroom counter in the morning after I get ready...I pick them up later, this drives David nuts!
8.  There are days I lock myself in the bathroom to take a bath and threaten my children that if they open the door...they may die!
9.  Everyone EXCEPT David, eats out of the same peanut butter jar on Sunday's after church.
10.  Right now our van has a leak in the coolant...so it smells REALLY bad...we are now known as the "stinky van people".

There it is for you...keeping it REAL

Way to go Maddy!

Madeline made student of the month!  We are so proud of her.  Madeline told us in her passive way that this grand event happened.  She handed me some awards and said "Hey mom here are some awards."...Me "What are these for?"...Maddy "Oh, I made student of them month and they give you awards".  She is too funny.  We are so super proud of her.  Anyone who knows her knows are hard she works and how much she deserves this.  Rock on Maddy!

Yeppers another video...I couldn't resist doing this for Abigial's baptism.

I promise no more videos for a while after this one...they are getting me waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too emotional!  Abby actually cried watching this too.  Abigail wanted to take this to school for show and tell.  I was hesitant because it contained religious pictures.  I didn't know if they could show this at school.  Her teacher was AWESOME about it.  She let her show it and simply said that everyone has their own faith and this is Abby's.  It was a neat experience.  I love her teacher for giving Abby that moment!

Family Fun

Yes it was freezing!  Yes there was drama!  But we made it work.  This was the first time in 6 years, since Robbie and Jacki's wedding, that we have all had a family picture together.  This was awesome.  It was so stinking cold but we did it!  Doesn't David's dad look like he needs a pitchfork (that old farmer picture).  Or as Kirsten, my sister in law, said "He looks like the guy from Weekend and Bernies, you know the dead guy they prop up"...It's a good thing he is such a good sport.   This was a great time with family...Love it!
Here is a great picture of all of the grand kids.  They are sure yummy!  The next Photo right after this, Adri the girl in the blue coat by Savannah turned and smelled Savannah's hair flower.  And her sister Teya, the baby in Savannah's arms, bursts into tears.  Priceless!  Oh and if you notice Abigail's coat is pinned shut.  She slammed her coat in her school locker the day before pictures.  Yep...Priceless!
